The moon rising full in the night sky this Saturday into Sunday, is a calendrical Blue Moon, meaning the second full moon in any given month on the calendar. A true Blue Moon is the third moon of four ocurring in a quarter season* marked by the equinoxes and solstices.
The moon cycles through her phases in roughly 28 days. Not 30 or 31. Divide 365 days by 28 and the result is 13. When there are more moons than there are months, sooner or later a full moon will dance across the sky twice in one month. When it does, it marks a moment of overflow, a seasonal reckoning outside the normal rhythm—something extra, unexpected and mysterious.
Thirteen moons every year, measured by the movement of celestial bodies—the sun, moon and stars. To me, this is the real magick of this month’s full moon. Not abundance, not even spectacle, but persistance.
This is why blue moons carry an aura of magick around them. Not because they are seldom seen, but because they remind us that the natural world marches to its own tune and life unfolds in its own rhythm.
The same way some dreams take longer to root themselves than others. Some transformations arrive in a slower manifestation. Some callings remain quietly alive beneath the surface for years before energies align to bring them to life.
A Blue Moon speaks to these longings that have been waiting in the dark, watching for the light that will guide them forth.

Something that has long whispered beneath the din of ordinary life. Not a passing wish, but a thread.

Now the full Blue Moon rises as a point of return, illuminating the dream. Sometimes transformation is a subtle rearrangement of the self around the vision. Like a seed that has sprouted and poked a green shoot up out of the dark soil, we can see the beginning, but there is still more to come.
This is why I think Blue Moon magick is so potent. The universe opens this window in time, a container to hold what calls to us when ordinary distractions are suspended. A light shining on what we have been holding, what we are now willing to tend.
Full Blue Moon Ritual: Picking Up The Thread
This is not a beginning. It is a return. What was witnessed in darkness now comes into the light.
Mark the return
Light a candle. Place the paper you wrote on at the new moon beside it.
Say, softly or inwardly:
I return to what has been forming within me.
Witness what has shifted
Look at the paper without rushing to interpret it. Notice:
What feels different now?
What feels unchanged?
What feels heavier, lighter, or clearer?
You are not judging the thread. Only meeting it again.
Name what has emerged
Write beside or beneath the original intention:
What has revealed itself in this cycle? Keep it honest, not polished. When you have put your thoughts to paper, say:
What has formed in the unseen is now mine to tend.
You may choose to refine the intention, release it, or continue carrying it forward into another lunar cycle. There is no required outcome. Only recognition.
Close the cycle
Look once more at both flame and paper. Say:
Nothing was wasted. Only revealed.
The cycle is complete, witnessed twice
once in darkness, once in light.
Blow out the candle. Keep the paper in your BOS or journal as a reminder of the desire you are tending.
