Make Real Magic With The Wave Of A Bubble Wand
. . . in other words, lighten up and have some fun with your witchcraft.
Witchcraft doesn’t have to be all dark, mysterious and serious. Your rituals and spells can be just as effective when you infuse them with fun and playfulness.
Can you remember the pure delight of blowing bubbles as a child? The thrill of accomplishment when you could actually blow just the right amount of breath to coax a stream of bouning, soapy spheres from the wand? The sheer delight of watching them float on air, chasing them, trying to catch one in your hand without it popping . . . or deliberately popping as many as you could?
Close your eyes and remember what it felt like, because that feeling is the heart of your magic.
No doubt you’ve heard it before—the more personal your magick, the more powerful it is. Emotion is power made personal. A spell begins with desire, is shaped by intention and honed by will. But it’s the deep pulse of your emotion—whether joy, grief, longing, rage, devotion or other visceral experience, that gives your magick its wings. Emotion stirs the cauldron of the soul, vibrating with purpose, echoing through the unseen realms, awakening the energy needed to call your desires home.
So why not joy? Why not laughter, exuberance, a little silliness? We could all use a lot more of that—anytime. Tonight is the Full Buck Moon, named so because this is when male deer begin growing their antlers in preparation for the fall rut (mating season), but right now they’re just hangin’ out, enjoying the eats, the warm weather and maybe a little frolicking. In nature and agriculture communities, this is the time of abundance, a physical and mental ease that calls out for playfulness. Now is the time time to add some good old fashioned fun to your witchcraft.
A Bubble Spell
You will need:
A small bottle of bubble solution
Your breath and your intention
Preparation:
Consider what you wish to manifest with this full moon. If you choose, add to the solution a pinch of herbs that correspond to your desire, a crystal to match you intention, or to the bubble solution, or draw a sigil on the bottle. Spend some time in meditation, hold the bottle in your hands, charging the solution with your intention.
Spell:
Outside, under the full moon, hold the wand close to your lips, inhale and think of what you wish to call in.
As you blow each bubble, say or whisper:
“With breath and air, I set this free—
A wish, a charm, a spell from me.
Lift high my words and hear my plea,
By wind and will, so mote it be.”
Keep blowing bubbles, speaking your desire out loud. Watch the bubbles rise, carrying your spell into the world. Continue for as long as you like, conjuring the feelings you had when doing this as a child—dance, run, chase the bubbles, laugh, fall down in exhaustion.
Close Your Spell:
“With breath and air, these words I speak
Bring to me that which I seek.”
More Magickal Summer Fun
Set up a lemonade stand—or vegetables, flowers or homebaked goodies. Just enchant your goods with a spell for abundance, prosperity, health and wellness . . . whatever it is you desire. Or, cast to increase neighborly love, to spread acceptance and understanding—whatever tickles your fancy. Sell your goods or give them away, it doesn’t matter because you’re raising energy for your intentions.
Tap into fire magick during this season of strong sun. Maybe you want to light a bonfire and hold full ritual to call down the moon, alone or with your witchy friends. Make it fun with some good dance music to raise energy. Maybe it’s a campfire with s’mores and ghost stories—followed by writing your desires on paper to toss into the fire as an offering to the spirits. Perhaps its as as fun and easy as a candle and a wish. Go all out and bake (or buy) yourself a cake. Don’t forget the ice cream and sprinkles. You don’t have to wait for your birthday; this is about stirring the feelings associated with this simple ritual.
Play spin the bottle, but forget the kissing. Spread a blanket under the full moon and sit in a circle with friends. Whoever the bottle points to reveals something they desire, followed by all taking a drink and proclaiming “So mote it be!” Alcohol optional—remember to drink responsibly if you do imbibe.

Light ‘em up and do what you did as a kid—run around, make swirls, hold them high and watch them twinkle. Much like the bubble spell you can charge each spakler with an intention. Try writing your desires across the night sky!
Have some fun and make some magic under this Full Buck Moon. Until next time ~
